    Brief description of the inspection system:    
 

The shaped aluminum laminate is illuminated by infrared light before filling.

A slit running across the foil transport direction must be milled in the foil guide rail to permit infrared light to pass from transmitter to receiver. Highly sensitive sensors detect the infrared light passing through any pin holes in the foil. After signal evaluation, the unit triggers one of the following functions:

  • Optical signal (red LED on display panel)
  • Output 1 Pin hole detected" (24 V)
  • Output 2 Pin hole detected" (inverted 24 V)

The detection unit is self-monitoring, i.e. the green Power LED goes out if a transmitter fails and the related output signal is tied to 0 V.

Inspection system sensitivity is adjustable by a signal from the machine

 

control cabinet in steps of 25, 35, 50, 70 and 100 microns via three binary-coded input lines. The preselected sensitivity is indicated on the display panel. A precision pin hole mask is used to control the preselected sensitivity. Since most of our customers set their inspection system to 100 microns, we select this size as default in the standard supply scope.

The electronics, including the infrared transmitter and receiver components are housed in a compact, rugged aluminum housing. Several widths are available as standard as well as special versions and custom sizes. This allows the system to be retrofitted on most machines.

The pin hole detector is run on 24 VDC. To avoid malfunctions, the supplied 115/230 VAC power supply unit should always be used. It generates a stabilized operating voltage up to 2 A.
